About

I’m Jeremy Trimble! I work in IT, build software, constantly tinker, and occasionally exercise. This site serves as my musing on things I build, break, and figure out along the way.

How I got here

I didn’t start out in tech. I spent twelve years at a manufacturing company, starting in the assembly department, and moving through customer care then engineering before landing a tech role. Everyone of these roles came down to the same thing; something isn’t working, and you have to dig until you find out why. I’ve written about that stretch in a few older post, starting with My First Job.

Programming started as tinkering to see what I could make a computer output, then turned into a career. These days I spend my workdays keeping other people’s systems running, and my free time building things of my own, from apps like Daywise to the pseudo server where AI Agents work in a sandbox I built for them to play in.

What I write about

  • Homelab and self-hosting: Docker, networking, VMs, and Cyber Security
  • Building apps: Web Apps and iOS primarily
  • IT in practice: lessons I pick up from the day job, without oversharing
  • Exercise: Running and Cycling

The common thread is problem solving. I’ve always enjoyed using deductive reasoning to narrow down to the root cause of problems so I can explain it to the next person.
